Shaderunner® Case Study
East Maitland
We install awnings to all manner of structures. It’s always great when you arrive to a site and share the vision that clients have for their homes.
When we first arrived at this East Maitland home, we immediately appreciated the huge effort that went into constructing the series of rustic hardwood beam arches that were to be the basis for a custom and unique style of carport.
Initially, we spent some time brainstorming how best to incorporate retractable awnings into the arches. as they were the main feature of the structure and that whatever we added, needed to complement rather than obstruct the existing frame.
We recommended the Shaderunner® Pro 15 Awnings due to their high quality, minimalist componentry and attractive pleated appearance.
Custom brackets were designed and produced to match the plate steel corners on the frame. Using black steel plate for these meant they would soon age to a rusty patina like the existing brackets as intended.
It was also crucial that when the awning was packed away, it stacked between each frame (rather than below the frame) so the awnings were invisible from the front.
We used our signature Spinlock cleats to ensure that operating the awnings was simple and tidy.
Overall this installation looks fantastic. It was great being part of producing such a high quality result, where the results speak for themselves.
