Case Study
Newcastle East of Shaderunner® Pro30
We completed a premier installation of a Shaderunner® Pro 30 awning at a Newcastle East waterfront property in January 2024. Experience played an integral part in achieving the optimum outcome with many considerations to work through to achieve the best results.
Exposure to salt water meant that every fastener needed to be 316 marine grade stainless steel, while all aluminium components were powder-coated using Dulux Duratec which is a product developed specifically for coastal areas to help prevent oxidation and corrosion.
The project presented a few welcome challenges including the coastal location, need for a streamlined install, and not least, working at heights above a void for a future swimming pool.
We were onsite during the formwork stage to ensure that our wire fixing anchors would not clash with the spaghetti like steel work within the concrete structure.
As part of the project deliverables, we created shop drawings to inform related trades - eg electricians, to provide electrical work for the awnings motorised connection.
The aesthetics were an obvious priority and we made sure that the various viewpoints were optimised with a stylish, clean and purposeful design.
The awning is visible form nearly any point in the house and Tim saw this as a critical aspect and ensued the fixings suited to achieve a minimalist finish.
“Due to the exposed environment my goal was to make this bullet proof for the conditions faced. And if something was to go awry, all the components are accessible for ease of maintenance.”
